PHENOMENAL WOMEN

Howdy,

I chanced upon this beautiful poem , 'Phenomenal Women' on www.amazingwomenrock.com. AWR is an online oasis for amazing women (and those who appreciate them). It is a sure source of inspiration and encouragement to women from all walks of life. The poem is excerpted from a book in progress ''Phenomenal Women: The Empowerment of YOU" by Loretta A. Cella, an epitome of a phenomenal woman.

Without further adieu, I will share the poem with you. Hope you get inspired...

A phenomenal woman is purposeful and passionate. She is driven by her thoughts and makes her thoughts a reality. A phenomenal woman has imperfections. She is phenomenal for what she does with her imperfections; she is phenomenal because she is true to herself.

A phenomenal woman can be any shape or size.
Creed, religion, age, sexual orientation, the family she was born into, or the color of her skin do not matter.
She is strong yet weak;she struggles with her own identity from time to time, but she understands that all is part of the game. She is true to her voice and to her inner self. She is resourceful and honest.
She is brutal at times. forcing her way into the world's reality.

I have become a phenomenal woman because I am surrounded with phenomenal women who have left an imprint in my life.

To all the phenomenal women out there...
Have a good one.

GREEN WITH ENVY

Hey Loves,

Hope your week is off to a good start.
Today am serving you a healthy dose of rich green button embellished double breasted dressy coat, a cutesy black dress top worn as a top (i cherish the layered embroidered detailing on it. They are so cute and feminine) beautiful paisley prints skirt laced with gold and black accessories. The green coat brightened the whole ensemble and it also picked on the green on the skirt.

Whats not to love?

Hope you enjoy!

DRESS DOWN FRIDAY:PART II

Happy Friday Loves,

See how the ensemble above transitioned from a Casual Day Outfit to a Friday Night Out with the girls. I just threw on a white button embellished sailors coat and substituted the red flats with a pair of  statement making white and grey snake skinned gladiator strapped sandals. The result was a funky and edgy look perfect for a night out with the girls; evident to the fact that a fab coat and a pair of statement shoes can totally transform an outfit.

DRESS DOWN FRIDAY: PART I

Hello Lovelies,

On some Fridays, we try to dress down the best way we possibly can. I had this look on yesterday during the day and in the evening, I spruced it up a little bit for an evening out with my girls. And the transition was Perfect to say the least.

For the day, I threw a denim waist coat on my ripped denim pants and print tee then wore my super comfy red ngoma flats. The result was a laid back and uber comfy look. I felt so light and free. Check out my denim on denim look below.

PS. I enjoyed dancing in the rain.

Look out for my Friday night look next week.

How To Shop For The Perfect Outerwear

So, anyone who knows me, know that I love coats. I would throw on a coat on just anything am wearing. Coats spice up an ensemble and give it that complete feel. They completely transform an outfit. I have quite a number of them and am still adding to my collection. Now that the cold weather has set in, I thought it best to give you some guidelines on what to look out for when shopping for a coat so that you can make a good investment. I have also compiled a couple of my looks on coats from my previous style posts.

1. Comfort: This is the number one rule. Comfort always comes first. Your coat should fit well. Ensure that there is room enough around your arms and shoulders to avoid feeling rigid and restricted when reaching out to greet someone or to stretch.

2. Your Body Shape: Opt for a style that flatters your body shape .Round silhouettes look good in lean straight cut style coats. They should avoid Double  breasts and thick / heavy fabrics like puffas as they make you look heavier. If you have a petite silhouette chose a slim fitting, streamlined coat. A belted will even work better as it will accentuate your tiny waistline.

3. Length: The length of your coat should suit your wardrobe. Mid Calf Length are more popular as they blend well with trousers and skirts.

4. Colors: Purchase a color that will blend well with most of the items in your wardrobe. Its also important that you consider the colors of the season. Make sure that your coats collection consists of both bright and neutral pieces.

5. Taste or Preference: Do you want a classic piece or a stand out piece? Do you want something simple or a piece that is bold? Do you want a winter coat or an all weather coat? Classic coats transit easily from the weekdays to weekends. All weather coats can be worn all year round as opposed to winter coats.

I know that I haven't blogged like forever. Last month was super hectic. But hey, here I am. Back again.
